Pharaohe Monch seems to be gearing up for the release of his next album, P.T.S.D. (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.)
This week he released the the Mr. Porter remix of Robert Glasper’s “Calls” (featuring Jill Scott) – to which he added a well-fitting verse.
Then, yesterday, he released the first single from the aforementioned album, “Bad Motherfucker”
This will be Monch’s first album since 2011. It is a concept album, and is the sequel to 2011’s W.A.R. (We Are Renegades.)
In an interview with RapGenius, Monch stated:
“The W.A.R. album was like, I’m going to battle against the machine, I’m doing this independently. I’m putting some things out that I learned and I’m going to expose about the music industry. PTSD is the result of me doing that, where I am emotionally now. It’s similar to how someone comes back from war and is stricken by re-adjusting to a regular situation.”
The description for “Bad Motherfucker” included some insight on who will be helping out with the album.
“[The Album] will feature guest appearnces from Black Thought, Talib Kweli, Denaun Porter, The Stepkids, Vernon Reid and production from Lee Stone, Marco Polo, Jesse West, The Lion Share & Quelle Chris.”
