Upcoming Producers Who You Should Get Acquainted With (Electronic)

Sinjin Hawke: 2013 has been an amazing year for Canadian producers; from Ryan Hemsworth to Tommy Kruise and Kaytranada, our Northern neighbors have been killin’ the scene this year and now we have this dude. With a similar hyphy-experimental sound to TNGHT, his production style never fails to use heavy synths, booming horns, and crashing drums that will make you fiending for his next release. Listen to Sinjin Hawke’s latest drop “Prom Night” below and stay tuned for new music by Sinjin Hawke to surface soon enough.

Evian Christ: This 24 year-old producer was contacted by G.O.O.D. Music immediately after Yeezy heard his debut instrumental tape Kings and Them. Then, after blowing away any and everyone who listened to the ominous EP, he soon after was directly flown out to Paris to help with production on one of 2013’s most talked about albums, Yeezus. His bass-heavy, darkly trill style of production caught Kanye’s ear quick and after being put onto him recently, I too became an instant fan. Listen to Evian Christ’s debut musical project below and understand why he was drafted to create “I’m In It” for Yeezus.

Brrd: Minimal electronic music at its finest. Think Shlohmo and Flying Lotus rolled into a musical ball, with hints of both sprawled throughout  every piece of music the producer touches. The laid back, ambient, sometimes melancholy feel of Shlohmo combined with the abstract sounds and ingenious sample choices of FlyLo. Brace yourself and indulge below with “Freezetag.”

The-Drum: Chaotic and funky, weirdly dope – The-Drum’s versatile production style is literally mind-blowing. Take “Switch” for example, starting off solely with shuttering harps, wind chimes, and other trippy sounds of that nature but gradually evolves into a bouncy, funky-bass-filled track that is bound to have to nodding your head after a minute at the latest. This track is the definition of smooth; turn down the lights, light up a blunt and invite your lady friend over – it’s go time. Get familiar with this upcoming duo, their innovative production style is something you won’t want to miss out on.
