Fly Lo is at it again and this time producing a track for Mac Miller, titled “S.D.S.” Although, this may seem like an unimaginable collaboration, “S.D.S” definitely complements Ellison‘s and Miller‘s style exceptionally well. This track certainly brings back the nostalgic feel of “K.I.D.S.”, which was the mix-tape that gain LarryFisherman an significant amount of hype .
In an up-to-date interview with Brightest Young Things, Fly Lo shares insight on a few of his current projects. He said he’s working on a “crazy jazz album”, featuring the likes of Thundercat and others, that won’t be falling under the name of Flying Lotus. This is how he describe it:
“Right now, I’m on my jazz shit, man. I’m doing a lot of jazz stuff. We’re trying to make something that’s kind of a geek album. There are crazy time signatures and really intense playing, just because we want to go there. We want to play really fast. It’s gonna be fun, man… At the moment, there’s a lot of people involved.”
Along with his upcoming Jazz album, Ellison also mentioned that he has other material in store for us, under Flying Lotus (“Next year, there might be another Lotus record.”) He is also planning for a Brainfeeder compilation, in celebration to mark the label’s 5 year anniversary. Steven Ellison is without a doubt a busy man as we can see, but his hard work doesn’t stop here. He has another hip-hop mix-tape in the works under Captain Murphy, which is the follow up to his 2012’s Duality mix-tape.
